Agartala: Mar 10: The District Congress President of Udaipur, Titon Pal, has alleged that the Congress leadership was attacked even while under police security. This accusation follows an incident on March 6 in Tulamura, where two individuals were reportedly tied up and beaten in a brutal manner over a land dispute. Despite the registration of a case, the Congress team, led by Nitya Gopal Das, visited Tulamura to investigate why the police had not arrested the accused, who were allegedly still freely roaming in public.

When the Congress team, including Titon Pal, went to the police station to discuss the matter and submit a deputation, a tense situation unfolded. Titon Pal claimed that eight BJP supporters, including Kakraban Mandal President Biswajit Sarkar, entered the police station and began threatening the Congress leadership in the presence of police officers. The BJP supporters allegedly threatened the Congress leaders, warning that if they raised slogans against the BJP, they would be “the last to see each other.”

As the situation escalated, the Congress leadership contacted the Additional Superintendent of Police of Gomti district, who arranged for the Congress workers and supporters from Kakraban to be escorted under police protection. However, Titon Pal alleged that on their way back to Udaipur from Kakraban police station, large stones were thrown at their vehicle, even amid tight police security.

The District Congress expressed deep concern over the incident, accusing the BJP of using force to try and suppress the Congress movement. Despite facing numerous challenges, Congress leaders in Udaipur are confident that their movement is growing stronger. Titon Pal expressed optimism, stating that the Congress will continue to expand in the region, despite the obstacles put in their path by the BJP.
