Agartala: Feb 25: In a significant anti-drug operation on Tuesday, the police of Purba Agartala Police Station arrested four drug dealers in the area adjacent to MBB College and Anandamayi Ashram in Agartala. The operation is part of a broader initiative by the state police to crack down on illegal drug trade and usage, in alignment with the directives from Chief Minister Professor Dr. Manik Saha. The chief aim of this initiative is to create a drug-free environment in Tripura.

According to Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Devprasad Roy, the arrested individuals were found in possession of a substantial quantity of banned drugs, including heroin, and 210 drug sales boxes. Additionally, the police recovered cash amounting to Rs 5,000 and a motorcycle from the suspects. The operation reflects the state’s commitment to suppressing the drug menace and restoring safety in local communities.

The police action is part of a larger crackdown that has been ongoing in several districts of Tripura, following increasing concerns about drug abuse and trafficking in the region. These operations are being carried out with caution and strategy to ensure the effective dismantling of drug networks.

Devprasad Roy assured that the police would continue to carry out these anti-drug operations with full intensity. He emphasized that strict action will be taken against all individuals involved in the drug trade, signaling the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward drug-related crimes. With this operation, the authorities aim to send a strong message to drug traffickers and users alike, reiterating their commitment to making Tripura a drug-free state. The police also called for continued community support to ensure the success of these efforts.
