Bengaluru: Mar 27: Belur Raghavendra Shetty, the state convener of the BJP Milk Cell, has strongly criticized the recent hike in milk prices, vowing that the state BJP will fiercely oppose the decision on behalf of both farmers and consumers. Speaking under the leadership of the BJP state president, Shetty emphasized that the BJP Milk Cell would strive for justice, accusing the government of causing undue hardships for the public through these price increases.

Shetty raised concerns about the role of state institutions in allegedly profiting at the expense of milk producers, suggesting that certain institutions were benefiting unfairly while others were being squeezed. He also accused the Congress of exploiting the situation, with prices continuously rising and putting additional pressure on citizens. “Everything, from the milk people buy in the morning to alcohol, from birth certificates to death certificates, has seen a price hike. This is making life increasingly difficult for ordinary people,” he remarked.

The cabinet decision to increase milk prices was particularly singled out, with Shetty citing the past hikes on August 1, 2023 (₹3), June 25, 2024 (₹2), and March 27, 2025 (₹4), which collectively have raised prices by ₹9. He argued that while the government imposed these hikes, it had left approximately ₹600 crores in incentive money due to farmers unpaid. “So where is the money going?” he questioned, accusing the government of corruption.

Shetty further accused the Congress government of being involved in a “honey trap” by manipulating the price hikes and entangling the public in financial difficulties. The BJP Milk Cell is committed to fighting back, pushing for fair pricing and holding the government accountable for its actions.
