Agartala: Jan 28: Around 80 students at Takarjala Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Sipahijala district fell seriously ill after consuming food from the school canteen, with food poisoning being suspected as the cause. The students were immediately taken to the Takarjala Community Health Center for treatment.
Upon investigating the incident, District Magistrate Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal found several issues with the school canteen, including improperly stored food, expired spices, and unhygienic practices. He ordered the removal and disposal of these items and issued a show-cause notice to the canteen in-charge.
The authorities are now taking steps to prevent similar incidents in the future, focusing on improving the canteen’s food safety standards and ensuring better oversight. The incident has caused significant concern among the students’ parents, who are demanding accountability and safer conditions for their children.
