Agartala, May 8 — Governor of Tripura and President of the Indian Red Cross Society Tripura State Branch, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, inaugurated the ‘World Red Cross Day 2025’ celebration and a blood donation camp organized by the Indian Red Cross Society at its state branch headquarters in Agartala this morning.

The event, held in the spirit of humanity, compassion, and voluntary service, brought together volunteers, medical personnel, students, and dignitaries to mark the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross Movement and the first Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Nallu highlighted the core values of the Red Cross—neutrality, impartiality, voluntary service, unity, and universality—and praised the efforts of the Tripura State Branch in promoting health, disaster response, and humanitarian service across the state. “The Red Cross is a symbol of hope and relief in times of need. Its volunteers are the backbone of our emergency and humanitarian efforts,” he said.

The Governor also emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation as a life-saving act and encouraged citizens, especially youth, to actively participate in such initiatives. The blood donation camp saw enthusiastic participation from Red Cross volunteers, NCC cadets, students, and members of the public.

Shri Nallu commended the Indian Red Cross Society Tripura Branch for its dedication in serving vulnerable communities, especially during natural disasters and health emergencies.

The event concluded with a pledge to uphold the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross. Senior officials, volunteers, and well-wishers attended the function, making it a successful and inspiring observance of World Red Cross Day 2025.
