Opposition leader R. Ashok has called for the inclusion of all the names mentioned in the death note of BJP activist Vinay Somaiya in the FIR. Speaking to the media in Bengaluru, Ashok expressed his dissatisfaction that only one name had been added to the FIR and demanded that two more names be incorporated. He vowed that the struggle for justice would continue until the issue was resolved. Ashok also announced that BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra would visit Kodagu to attend the last rites of Vinay Somaiya and participate in the ongoing protest, with a dharna planned for the following day.
Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, also raised concerns, asserting that the names of MLAs Ponnanna and Manthar Gowda had been deliberately excluded from the FIR. Narayanaswamy emphasized that this omission was intentional and expressed the party’s objections to the handling of the case.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Ashwathnarayan, along with other BJP leaders, was present during the media briefing. Ashwathnarayan, the party’s chief spokesperson, confirmed that the BJP state president, B.Y. Vijayendra, would attend the funeral and the protest in Kodagu the following day. The BJP leadership has shown a united front in demanding accountability and justice for Vinay Somaiya’s death, signaling that they will continue their public demonstrations until their demands are met.
