Kamalpur, July 23:
Authorities at Kamalpur Government Degree College have launched an internal investigation after a video allegedly showing a Chemistry associate professor in a compromising position with a female student went viral on social media.
The video, reportedly recorded on a mobile phone, has been widely circulated over the past few days, sparking outrage and concern among students, faculty, and the public. According to sources, the female student involved is the only one enrolled in the Chemistry Honours course at the college and regularly attends individual classes conducted by the professor in question.
Following the emergence of the video, the college administration promptly responded by initiating an internal probe. The principal of the college, Abhijit Sarkar, confirmed the development and stated that a fact-finding committee has already begun its inquiry.
“Whenever such serious allegations surface, our internal committee immediately takes up the matter for investigation. The committee has been convened, and after completing the probe, we will forward the report to the Directorate of Higher Education,” Principal Sarkar told reporters.
He added that the internal committee’s findings would determine the next course of action. “We expect to submit the report within two to three days,” he said.
Sources within the college administration stated that strict confidentiality is being maintained during the inquiry to ensure a fair and unbiased investigation. The Directorate of Higher Education is also expected to monitor the case closely once the report is submitted.
The incident has raised questions about student safety and professional conduct on campus. Authorities have assured that appropriate measures will be taken based on the investigation’s outcome to uphold the institution’s integrity and ensure a safe educational environment for students.
