The Kanchanpur sub-divisional administration in North Tripura has issued a final directive to remove all illegal encroachments from government land along both sides of National Highway-44A (NH-44A), warning that eviction drives will begin if the structures are not cleared within the stipulated time.

According to an official notification issued by the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), all unauthorized occupants have been instructed to voluntarily remove their illegal constructions within three days, beginning July 1, 2026. The administration has made it clear that no further notice will be served before eviction action is initiated.

The notification states that the directive has been issued in compliance with the Supreme Court’s order, which prohibits any individual or organisation from illegally occupying government land adjoining national highways. Such encroachments include the construction of residential houses, shops, commercial establishments, business activities, or any other unauthorized structures on public land.

Officials said the Kanchanpur administration had earlier served notices to encroachers occupying government land along both sides of NH-44A (Package II and III). The affected stretch extends from the Kanchanpur Food Godown at Mitrajoy Para in Chandipur, passing through Hamunpui village and up to Tlaksih village. The deadline mentioned in the earlier notices has already expired, prompting the administration to issue the final warning.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ashis Biswas stated that all encroachers must remove the illegal structures voluntarily within the specified period to avoid forced eviction. He warned that if the encroachments remain after the deadline, the administration will launch eviction drives without issuing any additional notice.

The SDM also cautioned that legal action would be initiated against those who fail to comply with the directive, in accordance with the provisions of law.

The administration has appealed to residents and business owners occupying government land along the highway to cooperate with the authorities and vacate the encroached areas peacefully. Officials said the eviction exercise is aimed at ensuring compliance with judicial directions, protecting government land, and facilitating the smooth development, maintenance, and safety of the National Highway corridor.

The administration is expected to begin the eviction operation immediately after the expiry of the three-day deadline if the encroachments are not removed voluntarily.
