Agartala, July 19: In a proactive move to improve civic infrastructure, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder conducted a thorough on-site inspection of Ward No. 35 on Saturday. The visit was aimed at addressing persistent civic issues, particularly waterlogging and poor infrastructure that have troubled residents for years.

Mayor Majumder was accompanied by Mayor-in-Council Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee, Ward 35 Councillor Manoj Kanti Debroy, Ward 36 Councillor Nitu Dey Guha, AMC Deputy Commissioner, senior officials from the AMC and PWD department, and other key community representatives.

During the inspection, officials assessed the ground situation and interacted with local residents. Immediate directives were issued to relevant departments to take necessary steps for resolving the highlighted issues without delay.

Speaking to the media, Mayor Majumder acknowledged the long-standing grievances of residents and admitted that timely action had been lacking in the past. “We are aware that corrective measures were delayed. However, the BJP-led AMC is now actively working in every ward to ensure visible development and faster delivery of civic services,” he said.

He further informed that a total of ₹50 lakh has been sanctioned from the SC Corporation for the development of the Ravi Das Para area. This fund will be utilized for various improvements, including road construction, drainage upgrades, and other essential infrastructure projects. Additionally, ₹15 lakh has been allocated specifically for road and drainage work in the area.

The Mayor reaffirmed AMC’s commitment to systematic problem-solving and long-term infrastructure development. “Our aim is to build a clean, efficient, and citizen-friendly Agartala,” he added.

The inspection marks another step in AMC’s ongoing mission to enhance urban living standards and ensure responsive governance at the grassroots level.
