Agartala, Sep 21 — Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Sunday urged pre-paid taxi and auto drivers to maintain the highest standards of service for tourists arriving in the state, stressing that the first impression of visitors plays a vital role in shaping their perception of Tripura.

Speaking at a uniform distribution programme for pre-paid auto and taxi drivers, the minister reminded them of their crucial role as the first point of interaction for travellers. “There is an adage in English: Morning shows the day. The first impression of a person about something lasts long. When tourists arrive and see pre-paid ride providers quarrelling over passengers, it creates a negative and lasting impact. I want all of you to keep this in mind,” he said.

Chowdhury highlighted that pre-paid drivers shoulder a great responsibility in representing the state. “Every tourist is our guest. It is your responsibility to ensure that they get proper rides. No one should leave without transport. Only after the last flight lands and passengers depart for their destinations should you return home,” he instructed.

The minister also appreciated the efforts of the pre-paid service providers, noting the improvements made in recent years. “Over the last two years, pre-paid services have improved substantially. We conducted multiple rounds of discussions with stakeholders before finalising decisions. I sincerely thank all of you for your cooperation,” he said.

Chowdhury emphasised that enhancing service quality would not only boost Tripura’s tourism sector but also strengthen the state’s reputation as a hospitable and welcoming destination. He urged drivers to uphold discipline, unity, and professionalism in their conduct, assuring the government’s continued support in improving transport infrastructure and facilities for both tourists and service providers.
