Kohima, Oct 16: Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton visited two villages in Mokokchung district’s Tuli area yesterday to address ongoing border disputes with neighboring Assam.
Accompanied by senior officials, including Advisor A Pangjung Jamir, Home Secretary, and DGP Rupin Sharma, Patton inspected key areas of concern, including the Assam Police Commando Battalion camp at Septsuyong Lu and Wameken Yimsen village.
During an interaction with villagers and Ao Senden representatives, Patton assured that the state cabinet is taking the dispute seriously. He mentioned that letters have been sent to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Assam Chief Minister to resolve the issue.
Patton also urged villagers not to sell land to non-indigenous people, emphasizing the importance of preserving local land ownership.
The visit aims to find a solution to the long-standing border dispute between Nagaland and Assam.
