Agartala, October 2: A programme for distribution of yarn and government certificates among beneficiaries will be held in Tripura's Krishnapur Assembly constituency on October 13, with Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma reviewing arrangements for the event.
Debbarma, who is also the Krishnapur MLA, chaired a preparatory meeting at the BJP Mandal office in the constituency on Friday. The programme will be organised at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds near Chakmaghat Barrage, organisers said.
Chief Minister Manik Saha is expected to attend the programme and hand over certificates to beneficiaries besides overseeing the distribution of yarn, they said.
The minister asked local workers to step up efforts to reach eligible beneficiaries ahead of the event, with particular focus on families living in tribal and remote areas.
He called for door-to-door outreach and urged workers to personally inform residents about the programme. The workers were also asked to maintain contact with households in their respective areas to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive information about the event.
Debbarma stressed that government services and welfare benefits should reach citizens irrespective of their political affiliation and asked workers to create awareness about various government schemes and services.
Members of the BJP's Tribal Morcha were also urged to participate in the outreach exercise, particularly in remote villages where communication gaps may affect residents' access to information about welfare programmes.
The meeting was attended by BJP Mandal general secretary Wathrai Molsum and other local leaders, workers and supporters. The discussions covered preparations for the event, beneficiary outreach and arrangements at the proposed venue.
The October 13 programme will include distribution of yarn to local beneficiaries, an initiative linked to traditional livelihood activities, besides presentation of government certificates to eligible residents.
Residents of Ratia, Durgapur, South Durgapur and adjoining areas are expected to benefit from the programme, according to organisers.
Preparations at the Poush Sankranti Mela grounds have begun ahead of the event, they said.
Debbarma directed workers to ensure that details of the programme reach households across the constituency and asked them to give special attention to remote and tribal habitations.
He also emphasised the need for coordination among local organisers and workers for the smooth conduct of the programme.
The meeting concluded with instructions to intensify grassroots-level communication in the run-up to October 13 and facilitate wider awareness among eligible residents about the distribution programme and government services.
Organisers said the initiative is expected to cover beneficiaries from several areas of Krishnapur constituency.
