Patna, March 30: In a significant political development in Bihar, senior BJP leader Nitin Nabin has resigned from his position as Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Bankipur constituency, marking the end of a long legislative tenure.

Confirming the development, Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi said that Nabin has already submitted his resignation letter, which will be formally presented to the Speaker of the Assembly. He explained that the official submission was delayed due to Sunday and will now be completed on the first working day of the week.

Soon after stepping down, Nabin took to the social media platform X to share an emotional note, reflecting on his nearly two-decade-long political journey. He recalled entering active politics in 2006 following the demise of his father, late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, when the party entrusted him with the opportunity to contest the by-election from the then Patna West constituency.

Expressing deep gratitude to the electorate, Nabin highlighted that the people of Bankipur had elected him as their representative for five consecutive terms. He described this continued support as both a blessing and a responsibility, which motivated him to work relentlessly for the development of the constituency and the state.

Throughout his tenure, he said, he consistently raised public issues both within the Assembly and beyond, striving to address the concerns of the people. He also acknowledged the guidance and support he received from senior leaders across party lines, as well as the contribution of dedicated party workers.

Reflecting on his role as a minister in the Bihar government, Nabin expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, where he contributed to implementing key policies and welfare initiatives.

Announcing his decision, Nabin stated that while he is stepping down as the elected representative, he will continue to serve the people in his new organisational role within the party. Reaffirming his commitment, he said he would keep working towards the vision of a “Developed India” and a “Developed Bihar” by 2047, maintaining strong ties with the people and party cadre.
