New Delhi, June 12 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, calling it “heartbreaking beyond words.” The aircraft, Air India Flight AI171, was en route to London’s Gatwick Airport when it crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad, carrying 242 passengers. The crash occurred in the densely populated Meghaninagar area, sparking panic among residents.

In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected. I’ve been in touch with ministers and authorities who are assisting those impacted.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also expressed his condolences and said emergency response forces had been rushed to the crash site. “Pained beyond words by the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. I’ve spoken to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and the Ahmedabad Police Commissioner to assess the situation,” he posted on X.

BJP National President and Union Minister J.P. Nadda termed the crash “extremely tragic” and stated he was monitoring the situation closely. He confirmed speaking with Gujarat BJP President C.R. Paatil and Health Minister Rushikesh Patel regarding medical and relief operations.

“I appeal to all BJP workers to actively engage in rescue efforts and support affected families. I pray for strength for the bereaved and a speedy recovery for the injured,” Nadda added.

The crash triggered an immediate lockdown of nearby roads to facilitate emergency response teams. Search, rescue, and medical operations are ongoing, with teams working round the clock to aid survivors and recover the deceased. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
