Agartala: Feb 06: On February 1, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the 2025-26 Union Budget in Parliament. In response, the Pradesh Youth Congress organized a protest rally in the capital, calling the proposed budget anti-people and anti-youth. The rally began in front of the Pradesh Congress Bhavan and was led by Pradesh Youth Congress President Nil Kamal Saha, along with other party members.

The rally traversed various streets of Agartala city, highlighting their opposition to the budget. Nil Kamal Saha, the president of the Pradesh Youth Congress, expressed disappointment, stating that the budget presented no benefits for the youth. He pointed out that funding for various schemes had been reduced, which he believed would have a detrimental effect on youth development and welfare.

The protesters voiced their concerns about the lack of allocation for youth-centric programs and the cuts in funding for crucial initiatives. They argued that the budget did not address the growing needs and aspirations of the youth, which is a vital segment of the population.

The protest, a symbolic expression of discontent, aimed to highlight their dissatisfaction with the central government’s approach to youth welfare in the proposed budget. The Youth Congress plans to continue advocating for greater attention and funding for youth-centric programs to ensure their development and empowerment.
