Agartala: October 24. Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the state government will not compromise on the health sector and announced plans to build one super-specialty hospital soon and for that tender has already been floated.

Dr. Saha said this while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Mukhyamantri Sustho Saishob Sustho Kishore Ahiyan (MSSSKA 7.0) at Ambassa Town Hall, Dhalai District.

“When I was asked where Mukhyamantri Sustho Saishob Sustho Kishore Ahiyan (MSSSKA 7.0) should be held, I said such programs are necessary not only in Agartala but also in other places. This time, we have decided to hold it in Ambassa, under Dhalai. Dhalai district is an aspirational district. The district has faced many problems in the past and some issues are still there. We are working to resolve such issues, and around 15% of the state budget has been allocated for the Aspirational District,” said Dr. Saha.

He further explained that the main objective of MSSSKA is to provide medical assistance to children and adolescents from 0 to 19 years of age who are dealing with diarrhea, worm issues, and anemia, by providing them with medicines.

“This year, we have decided to also address and treat diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure. This program will continue until October 30. We started it in September 2021. We must take care of the next generation. Our health sector is a priority because if people’s health is not good, how will they work? This includes not only physical but also mental health. From October 31 to November 6, a mop-up round will be held, covering house-to-house visits, communities, orphanages, and more. We aim to reach the last person in society,” he said.

Dr. Saha also provided updates on the MSSSKA program’s progress. In MSSSKA 1.0, 10 lakh beneficiaries were covered, which accounted for around 93%. In the second stage, it was 93.56%, the third stage saw 96.97%, the fourth reached 97%, the fifth hit 98.96%, and last year it stood at 97.97%.

“Every year, we have seen an increase. This year’s target is 11 lakh 36 thousand, and we will meet it. We will not compromise on health. Investors are coming to invest in the medical sector. One tender was floated for opening a super-specialty hospital. Now, 97% of treatments are possible in Tripura, so people no longer need to go outside the state unnecessarily. We have improved our facilities. The double-engine government is very beneficial for the state. Our main goal is to build a medical hub so that people don’t need to go outside the state and spend all their money. At AGMC, nine more super-specialty facilities will be started. The first kidney transplant in Tripura was successful, and both patients are doing well,” he added.

During the event, Dhalai District Magistrate Saju Vaheed, Dhalai Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Sushmita Das, MLA Chitta Ranjan Debbarma, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Health Director Dr. Sanjib Debbarma, NHM Tripura Mission Director Dr. Samit Roy Chowdhury, SP Avinash Rai and other prominent people were present.
