Agartala: May 09: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired a high-level security meeting on Friday to review and strengthen surveillance along the India-Bangladesh border. The meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s official residence in Agartala and lasted for over an hour.

Senior officials from the Border Security Force (BSF), Assam Rifles, Tripura Police, and various intelligence agencies attended the closed-door session. The primary focus was on enhancing border vigilance, monitoring sensitive entry points, and coordinating efforts among multiple agencies to prevent infiltration and illegal activities.

Following the meeting, security across the state has been significantly tightened. Tripura Police and other agencies have intensified checks at key locations, including railway stations and the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport. Entry and exit points are under strict surveillance to detect and deter any suspicious movement.

In a proactive move, Tripura Police also issued a public advisory urging citizens to cooperate with tenant verification processes. Authorities noted a concerning trend of criminals and anti-social elements renting properties under assumed identities to exploit their anonymity. To counter this, residents are requested to submit tenant details using a prescribed format available at all police stations and outposts, or downloadable from the Tripura Police website: https://police.tripura.gov.in.

The notice emphasizes that failing to verify tenants may lead to legal complications if individuals are later found involved in criminal or anti-national activities. The initiative is part of broader efforts to maintain internal security amid regional instability and rising cross-border threats.

Security agencies will continue to monitor the situation closely, with regular assessments and coordination at both the state and central levels to ensure public safety and border integrity.
