Agartala, November 9: The Tripura government is focusing on improving healthcare services across the state with special attention to building high-quality hospitals and establishing a medical hub. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the health infrastructure and services while inaugurating the 18th Annual State Conference of the Association of Surgeons of India, Tripura State Branch, at the KLS Auditorium of AGMC & GBP Hospital on Saturday.
During the conference, Dr. Saha highlighted the importance of health, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi views healthcare as a crucial sector for the nation’s growth. He assured that the Tripura government is working in line with central guidelines to modernize the healthcare system. He pointed out that in the past six years, Tripura’s health sector has been significantly upgraded, with improved infrastructure and an increase in medical manpower, including the recruitment of more doctors, specialists, and super-specialists.
Dr. Saha shared that the government is working to establish high-quality hospitals with private organizations and has already received interest from eight such organizations. These hospitals will cater to the growing healthcare demands, ensuring that people no longer need to go outside the state for treatment.
The Chief Minister also announced a plan to expand allopathic, homeopathic, and Ayurvedic treatments. With the establishment of new medical colleges and the expansion of seats in existing institutions, Tripura is rapidly advancing its medical education and treatment capacity. Kidney and liver transplant programs, trauma centers, and de-addiction centers are also being developed to further enhance healthcare services in the state.
