Agartala, Oct 29: In preparation for the upcoming International Day of Persons with Disabilities and the Khelo Tripura Para Games 2025, a high-level preparatory meeting was held on Wednesday at Conference Hall No. 2 of the State Secretariat, Agartala.

The meeting was chaired by Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Tinku Roy, and attended by senior officials from the Department of Social Welfare & Social Education, Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, and other key government departments. The session primarily focused on inter-departmental coordination, infrastructure readiness, and inclusive planning to ensure the successful execution of both events.

Minister Roy described the Khelo Tripura Para Games as a landmark initiative aimed at promoting sports participation and talent development among persons with disabilities. He noted that the International Day of Persons with Disabilities would serve as an important platform to celebrate their achievements, raise awareness on accessibility issues, and advocate for greater inclusion in all spheres of life.

Highlighting the state government’s strong commitment to inclusive development, the Minister urged all departments to work in close collaboration to create a dignified, accessible, and inspiring environment for para-athletes and participants. “These events are not just about sports or observance—they reflect our collective responsibility to build a society where everyone gets equal opportunity to thrive,” he said.

The meeting also reviewed logistical arrangements, awareness drives, transportation and accommodation facilities, as well as support mechanisms to encourage maximum participation from across the state.

With detailed planning and cross-departmental cooperation underway, the state government aims to make the Khelo Tripura Para Games 2025 and International Day of Persons with Disabilities landmark events celebrating inclusivity, resilience, and empowerment.
