Agartala: May 06: In line with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive, a comprehensive Civil Defence Mock Drill will be conducted across all districts of Tripura on May 7 (Wednesday), aimed at enhancing the state’s emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Secretariat on Tuesday, Revenue Secretary Brijesh Pandey said that the drill will be coordinated by the District Disaster Management Authorities and the District Civil Defence Corps, with active participation from various emergency and disaster response stakeholders.

Pandey stated that the objective of the exercise is to evaluate the preparedness, efficiency, and inter-agency coordination during hostile attacks and emergency scenarios. The drill will involve testing alert systems, evacuation protocols, public safety measures, and coordinated responses among various agencies.

As per an official press release, trained Civil Defence Volunteers, present across all districts, will play a vital role in the mock drill. These volunteers act as first responders during crises and will participate alongside police, fire services, health departments, and other key agencies.

The exercise will simulate real-life emergency responses including air raid warnings, evacuation drills, rescue and first aid operations, fire-fighting, and the restoration of essential services. Officials have urged citizens to remain calm and cooperate fully with authorities during the drill, stressing that it is only a preparedness exercise.

West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, who was also present at the press briefing, confirmed that the district-level mock drill will be held at Umakanta Academy ground from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Warning sirens will sound at 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm to simulate air attack scenarios.

Civil Defence Director J.B. Doati and State Disaster Management Project Officer Sarat Kumar Das were also present, overseeing preparations for the state-level exercise.
