Agartala, July 5: A group of 81 students from the School of Engineering and Architecture of Techno India University, Tripura (TIUT), accompanied by eight faculty members, has reached Shillong for an academic visit to the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), an institution under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The visit is scheduled for Monday and aims to provide students with first-hand exposure to cutting-edge space technology, research and scientific applications.

According to university officials, the academic tour has been organised to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical experience by introducing students to the advanced research and technological innovations undertaken at NESAC. The programme will enable students to gain insights into various aspects of space applications, satellite technology, remote sensing, geospatial science and engineering research.

The university believes such visits play a crucial role in broadening students’ academic perspectives while inspiring innovation and research-oriented thinking among aspiring engineers. Officials said interactions with scientists and researchers at NESAC are expected to help students better understand the practical applications of engineering concepts and the growing role of space technology in national development.

Apart from the educational visit, Techno India University, Tripura is also exploring opportunities for academic and research collaboration with NESAC. The proposed partnership is expected to strengthen industry-academia linkages, promote collaborative research and create new avenues for internships, skill development and knowledge exchange.

TIUT Chancellor Satyam Roy Chowdhury said the university remains committed to providing students with quality education and meaningful academic exposure beyond conventional classroom teaching. He noted that interactions with premier scientific institutions such as ISRO’s NESAC would significantly contribute to the professional development of students.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ratan Kumar Saha said the university would continue to organise experiential learning programmes that expose students to emerging technologies and research environments. He added that TIUT has already signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with several academic and research institutions and would continue expanding such collaborations to enhance learning opportunities for students.

The university emphasised that educational visits to nationally renowned research organisations help nurture scientific temperament, encourage innovation and strengthen research capabilities among engineering students. The information regarding the academic visit was shared in an official statement issued by Registrar Dr. Shiladitya Munsi, who reiterated the university’s commitment to promoting excellence in technical education through industry and institutional partnerships.
