Agartala: Nov 25: In August 2023, serious allegations of corruption emerged against the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA), implicating several leaders of the then-current committee. The scandal, which revolved around corrupt practices related to the awarding of floodlight tenders for MBB Stadium and Narsinghgarh International Stadium, was brought to the attention of the Tripura High Court. Despite the formation of a bench by the High Court to hear the case, no arrests have been made so far, even though more than a year has passed since the allegations surfaced.

In response to the prolonged delay in action, representatives from the current TCA committee met with the Director General of Police (DGP) at the police headquarters to express their concerns. They questioned the reasons for the lack of arrests, especially given the considerable time that had passed since the initial allegations. The DGP assured them that the matter was still under investigation and promised that results would be forthcoming soon.

Tapan Lodh, the President of the TCA, along with other leaders, pointed out that after a police complaint was filed and the case was taken up by the High Court, no significant action had been taken against the accused individuals. They claimed that the previous committee had awarded the floodlight tenders to favored parties, leading to massive corruption worth crores of rupees. Despite this, the investigation has remained stagnant, and no arrests have been made.

The authorities’ response suggests that they are still working on the case, but it remains unclear when the investigation will reach a resolution. The delay in taking action has sparked growing frustration among the current committee members, who are now awaiting concrete results from the ongoing investigation.
