Agartala, May 12: The Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar has launched a compassionate social welfare initiative titled “Shraddha” to support widowed mothers who often face neglect and hardship within society and even within their own families. As part of the programme, the Ashrama on Tuesday distributed hundreds of monthly ration kits among beneficiaries, continuing its long-standing mission of humanitarian service.

The initiative aims to provide not only essential food supplies and daily necessities but also emotional support, dignity and recognition to women who are frequently overlooked despite their sacrifices and contributions to their families and communities.

Under the Shraddha programme, the Mission has already reached hundreds of widowed women across several local communities. The monthly ration kits distributed through the initiative are expected to ease the financial burden on economically vulnerable mothers and ensure their access to basic necessities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Maharaj of the Ashrama said that the programme reflects the spiritual and humanitarian values of the Ramakrishna Mission. He emphasized that service to humanity is one of the core principles of the organization and that caring for elderly and widowed mothers is both a social and moral responsibility.

The Maharaj further stated that despite limited resources, the Mission has been able to continue various welfare activities due to the blessings and goodwill of these mothers. He noted that Shraddha is not merely a distribution programme but an effort to offer respectful service, compassion and emotional support to women who deserve care and appreciation.

Volunteers and members of the Mission actively participated in the distribution drive and interacted with the beneficiaries. Many women expressed gratitude for the initiative, describing it as a source of support and encouragement during difficult times.

The programme also highlighted the importance of collective compassion and community participation in addressing social challenges at the grassroots level. Through Shraddha, the Ramakrishna Mission seeks to inspire society to stand beside vulnerable women and ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect.

The initiative reinforces the Mission’s broader vision of humanitarian service and spiritual responsibility, while setting an example of how empathy and collective effort can positively transform lives.
