Agartala, May 16: In an effort to create awareness among rural communities and encourage youths toward skill development and employment opportunities, the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) organised an exposure visit to a skill training centre at Jogendranagar in Agartala under the DDU-GKY 2.0 programme.

The exposure visit was facilitated by the Jolaibari Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) under South Tripura district as part of its ongoing community mobilisation and awareness generation initiatives aimed at empowering rural youth through skill-based training programmes.

Members from four Cluster Level Federations (CLFs) — Kalasi CLF, Muhuripur CLF, Debdaru CLF, and Jolaibari CLF — participated in the visit. During the programme, the participants toured the residential training centre, which currently offers a three-month training course in Electronics Hardware Components for rural youths from different parts of Tripura.

The visiting team interacted with trainees undergoing the programme and observed various facilities available at the centre. They reviewed hostel accommodations, food arrangements, modern laboratory equipment, classroom infrastructure, and practical training facilities being provided to the participants.

The CLF members also interacted with trainers and officials to understand the structure of the programme, placement opportunities, and the overall process of skill development being implemented under the DDU-GKY 2.0 initiative.

Participants expressed satisfaction after witnessing the organised training ecosystem and appreciated the efforts being made to create employment opportunities for rural youths. Many members stated that such exposure visits help build confidence among communities and motivate unemployed youths to enrol in skill development programmes.

TRLM officials said the initiative is aimed at generating awareness at the grassroots level so that more youths from rural areas can take advantage of government-supported training and placement programmes. They added that the mission, in collaboration with Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs), remains committed to equipping rural youths with industry-oriented skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Officials further stated that programmes under DDU-GKY 2.0 are helping bridge the gap between rural unemployment and industry demand by preparing youths for jobs in different sectors through professional training, residential support, and placement assistance.

The exposure visit was also seen as an important step toward strengthening community participation and expanding the reach of skill development initiatives across Tripura.
