Actress Jyotika has opened up about her role in the recently released courtroom drama System, saying that portraying emotions through silence was one of the most challenging aspects of her performance in the film.
The actress, who has been receiving praise for her portrayal of Sarika, shared her thoughts during the film’s promotional events in Mumbai alongside co-star Sonakshi Sinha. In the film, Jyotika plays a stenographer, a character she describes as layered and emotionally complex.
Speaking about the role, Jyotika said Sarika is unlike any character she has portrayed before. According to the actress, the emotional depth and hidden layers within the character were the main reasons she was drawn to the project.
“For me, Sarika was a completely new character. There are many shades and layers to her personality. A lot of emotions had to be conveyed through silence, and that became very challenging as an actor,” she said.
Jyotika also spoke about preparing for a courtroom drama and how films often become a source of learning for actors when it comes to understanding legal environments and procedures. She admitted that she has never personally visited a courtroom and has mostly relied on cinema to understand how different courts function.
“We have seen courtroom dramas in many films, and every project teaches us something new. Through films, we learn how different courts operate and how realistically they are portrayed,” she explained.
System features Sonakshi Sinha in the role of Neha, a determined young lawyer trying to prove herself worthy of becoming a partner in her father’s law firm. Her father’s role is played by Ashutosh Gowariker. The film marks Sonakshi’s first performance as a lawyer and her second OTT project after Kakuda.
Produced by Pammi Baweja, Harman Baweja, and Smitha Baliga, the courtroom drama is currently streaming on Prime Video. The film has generated positive responses from viewers for its performances and emotionally layered storytelling.
