Agartala, July 5: The family of a missing minor girl has alleged police inaction in an alleged abduction case in Tripura’s South District, claiming that despite filing a complaint nearly two weeks ago, no significant progress has been made in tracing the girl or arresting the accused.

According to the family, the incident occurred on June 23, when the daughter of Pradip Banik, a resident of Swadeshnagar under Baikhora Police Station, went missing while on her way to attend a private tuition class. Soon after the incident, the family lodged a written complaint with Baikhora Police Station, suspecting that the girl had been abducted.

Addressing the media, Pradip Banik alleged that his daughter was abducted by Samrat Bhadra, son of Tapan Bhadra, a resident of Maransur Para near the Baikhora SSB camp. He claimed that the family had provided the identity and other relevant details of the suspected accused to the police but alleged that no effective action had been taken so far.

The grieving father expressed frustration over the delay in the investigation and appealed to the authorities for immediate intervention to trace and rescue his daughter. He urged the police to take prompt legal action against the accused and ensure justice for the family.

The incident has sparked concern among local residents, with some questioning the pace of the police investigation. The family also alleged that despite repeated appeals, they have not received satisfactory updates regarding the progress of the case.

In his statement, Banik further alleged that Officer-in-Charge Bishnu Chandra Das had failed to act decisively despite being informed about the suspected abductor’s identity. He also raised concerns over the officer’s long tenure at Baikhora Police Station, alleging that it had led to growing public dissatisfaction over law enforcement in the area.

However, these allegations have been made by the family and have not been independently verified. No official statement has yet been issued by the police regarding the status of the investigation or the allegations levelled against the Officer-in-Charge.

The family has urged the state authorities to intervene at the earliest, expedite the investigation and ensure the safe recovery of the missing minor.
