Agartala, July 13: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday directed government officials to ensure the effective implementation of welfare schemes by strengthening public awareness, promoting people’s participation and enhancing coordination among departments to improve governance and service delivery across the state.

Chairing a Task Monitoring System (TMS) meeting through video conference from the Conference Hall of the Civil Secretariat, the Chief Minister instructed district administrations and various government departments to actively disseminate information about the government’s developmental initiatives and welfare programmes so that the benefits reach every eligible citizen.

Dr. Saha emphasised that the district administration, police, health, education and all other departments must work in close coordination while carrying out their responsibilities. He said efficient governance depends on seamless cooperation among departments and greater engagement with the public.

“The primary objective of every welfare programme is the overall development of the people. Officials at every level must remain in close contact with citizens and play a proactive role in creating awareness about government schemes,” the Chief Minister said.

He directed officials to accord the highest priority to public interest while implementing development projects. Stressing that infrastructure works should not cause unnecessary inconvenience to residents, Dr. Saha instructed the concerned departments to minimise disruptions such as noise pollution and strictly follow prescribed standards and safety guidelines.

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister assessed the functioning of district hospitals and directed officials to ensure the smooth operation of the paediatric department at Kumarghat Hospital. He also reviewed the malaria situation and other non-communicable diseases in Dhalai district, calling for intensified awareness campaigns and effective preventive measures. He further instructed officials to strengthen the functioning of Primary Health Centres to ensure quality healthcare at the grassroots.

Reviewing the education sector, Dr. Saha sought reports on the academic environment in schools, classroom teaching standards and the implementation of the Mid-Day Meal programme. He directed authorities to maintain quality in all educational services.

The Chief Minister also instructed departments to ensure timely disbursement of pensions and allowances under various social security schemes. Highlighting the importance of tourism, he asked District Magistrates to conduct regular inspections of tourist destinations to maintain cleanliness and improve visitor experience. He also directed officials to monitor power infrastructure regularly to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply across the state.

Earlier, Chief Minister’s Secretary Dr. P. K. Chakraborty held a virtual interaction with District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police to review various aspects of the Task Monitoring System. Senior officials, including departmental secretaries and the Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, attended the meeting.
