Agartala: Feb 19: The central government has approved an additional assistance of Rs. 288.93 crore for Tripura under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to support the state’s recovery from the devastating floods that occurred in August 2024. This approval comes after a meeting between Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on February 15, where they discussed the extent of the damage caused by the floods and the necessary measures for relief and rehabilitation.

The Rs. 288.93 crore assistance will be used to address immediate relief needs, reconstruction efforts, and help restore vital infrastructure and services impacted by the natural disaster. Chief Minister Dr. Saha expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their unwavering support.

This additional financial assistance is expected to play a crucial role in the state’s rehabilitation efforts, helping to rebuild communities and bring back normalcy. It also signals the government’s readiness to stand by states facing such natural calamities and ensures that the affected populations are not left to struggle alone.
