Agartala: Mar 11: At a Congress rally held on Tuesday at Orient Chowmuhani in the state capital, MLA Sudip Roy Barman delivered a fiery speech, predicting a political earthquake in the state and targeting the BJP for its alleged attempts to manipulate public opinion through lies and intimidation. Barman, accompanied by Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, Tripura in-charge of the All India Congress Committee Saptagiri Shankar Ulka, and former Pradesh Congress President Pijush Kanti Biswas, was addressing a large crowd of Congress supporters.

Barman began by accusing the BJP of attempting to undermine the Constitution of India and warned the people to stay vigilant. He urged Congress workers and the public to act as protectors of the Constitution, ensuring that the BJP could not inflict further harm. Barman cited Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as an example, praising his unwavering commitment to the truth. He remarked that even though Rahul Gandhi faced pressure from institutions like the ED and CBI, he continues to move forward in his mission of serving the nation. According to Barman, Congress supporters are “soldiers of Rahul Gandhi” and must fight to protect the country from the BJP’s influence.

The MLA also criticized the BJP for allegedly manipulating the media, judiciary, and other institutions, claiming that the only weapon Congress has left to challenge them is the people. Barman emphasized the importance of reaching out to the masses to defeat the BJP democratically and guide the country on the right path.

Turning his attention to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Barman contrasted his leadership with that of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, recalling how India successfully intervened in Bangladesh during the 1971 war despite opposition from the United States. Barman accused Modi of being weak and failing to protect India’s dignity, citing the humiliation of Indian citizens being sent back from America without any action from the government. He also accused the BJP of stoking communal hatred and using it to loot the country.

In his critique of the CPI(M), Barman claimed that the party, with the support of primary members, could never form a government due to the loss of public support. He invited CPI(M) members to join Congress, citing the example of Kanhaiya Kumar, a former Communist who has now become a prominent youth icon for the Congress. Barman called for unity to defeat the BJP and save the country, encouraging the public to move past any misconceptions about Congress within the CPI(M) and join the fight for a better future.

The rally saw strong participation from Congress workers and supporters, and political observers believe that it served as a counter to the BJP’s rally on March 9, with Congress displaying its strength and commitment to challenging the ruling party.
