Agartala: April 22: In a touching moment that underscored both leadership and compassion, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, a renowned dental surgeon, personally provided first aid to a school principal who fell ill during an official event. The incident occurred at Amtali Higher Secondary School during the inauguration ceremony of newly constructed school buildings. Principal Ratna Chowdhury collapsed on stage, prompting the Chief Minister to rush to her aid and administer immediate medical support. Thanks to his timely intervention, the principal recovered swiftly, drawing widespread appreciation from attendees for his presence of mind and empathetic action.
The Chief Minister was present to inaugurate six new school buildings across the state, constructed at a cost of ₹27.38 crore. While physically attending the event at Amtali H.S. School, Dr. Saha virtually inaugurated new buildings at five other schools—Henry Derozio Academy, Gandhigram H.S. School, Taltala H.S. School, Indranagar High School, and Nandan Nagar H.S. School. The initiative aims to provide improved infrastructure and a better learning environment for students in Tripura.
The event also marked the launch of the ‘QR Codes for Flora’ initiative under the ‘Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE’ programme. Dr. Saha inaugurated the initiative at Amtali H.S. School, emphasizing the importance of environmental awareness and collective efforts in building a greener planet. Launched by the Ministry of Education to commemorate World Earth Day, the programme involves placing QR codes around school campuses, providing students with digital access to information about local plant species.
Dr. Saha’s dual role as a leader and a medical professional left a lasting impact, making the event both memorable and meaningful for the school community and beyond.
