Bengaluru, April 28, 2025:
Bangalore South MP and BJP Yuva Morcha National President Tejaswi Surya has strongly criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government for what he termed as a “lack of humanity” in offering only ₹10 lakh each as compensation to the families of two Hindu victims killed in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Addressing the media at BJP’s Jagannath Bhavan in Malleshwaram, Surya said the families deserved at least ₹1 crore each.

He stated that if the compensation had been deposited as a fixed deposit, the interest could have supported the victims’ families and their children’s education for years. Drawing comparisons, Surya pointed out that in a neighboring state, ₹15 lakh was given as compensation for an elephant stampede death, implying the Congress government in Karnataka failed to value the lives lost in a brutal terrorist attack.

Surya also announced that the BJP would provide ₹10 lakh each to the families of Bharat Bhushan and Manjunath, victims of the attack. He further detailed how R.V. University has pledged to fully sponsor Abhijaya Manjunath’s education through to a master’s degree, and Transcend School has committed to educating Bharat Bhushan’s 3-year-old child from Class 1 to 12. Mahaveer Jain Hospital has also pledged to take full responsibility for the health of both families for the next 11 years.

He criticized the Congress for not acknowledging that the attack specifically targeted Hindu men, a fact even accepted by Asaduddin Owaisi. Surya called upon Hindu religious leaders, businesspeople, and institutions to support the affected families and said the state government’s response lacks empathy and realism, questioning the Chief Minister’s judgment.

BJP spokespersons Ashok Gowda, Mohan Vishwa, and Surabhi Hodigere were also present at the press conference.
