Agartala, May 13:
Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha launched a strong attack on opposition parties on Tuesday, asserting that his government has brought transparency, curbed corruption and political violence, and significantly improved law and order—unlike previous regimes.

Addressing a ceremony at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala, where 975 new police constables (643 men and 332 women) received appointment letters, Saha described the recruitment as a major milestone in the state’s drive to enhance public safety. He announced further plans to recruit 916 more constables, 218 Sub-Inspectors, and 6,067 Special Executives to boost the state’s police force.

The Chief Minister emphasized that recruitment is now fully merit-based and free of political influence, stating that political agitation or affiliations are no longer necessary to secure government jobs. “The police have been given complete operational freedom,” he said, underlining the government’s commitment to reform and law enforcement.

Tripura now ranks third-lowest in crime rates nationally, he noted. Road accidents declined by 13% in 2024, with a further 40% drop recorded in the first four months of 2025. In the state’s ongoing battle against drugs, drug seizures increased by 106%, and destruction of confiscated drugs rose by 132% last year.

Dr. Saha also mentioned a rise in infiltration cases from Bangladesh, with an 18% increase in incidents and a 36% rise in arrests, crediting the coordinated efforts of BSF, state police, and TSR.

Warning against misinformation, he said that social media is under strict surveillance, and those spreading provocative content will face legal action.

Supporting PM Modi’s stance on Operation Sindoor and India-Pakistan relations, Saha echoed the view that peace and terrorism cannot coexist, affirming the government’s nationalist approach.

He concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to job creation and clean governance.
