Chennai, June 21, 2025 — The 11th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Student Activities Centre, IIT Madras, with the Hon’ble Governor of Tripura, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, gracing the occasion as the chief guest. The event saw the participation of students, faculty, and yoga enthusiasts who came together to mark this global day promoting wellness and mindfulness through yoga.

In his address, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu highlighted the importance of yoga as an ancient Indian practice that continues to offer holistic benefits to modern society. He emphasized that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a way of life that fosters harmony between body and mind. He encouraged students and citizens alike to incorporate yoga into their daily routines for improved physical health, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.

The event began early in the morning with a group yoga session led by trained instructors, following the Common Yoga Protocol outlined by the Ministry of AYUSH. Participants actively engaged in various asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques.

Faculty members and staff from IIT Madras, along with local dignitaries and invited guests, also attended the celebration. The collective spirit and disciplined participation reflected the growing awareness and commitment toward a healthier lifestyle through yoga.

The 2025 International Day of Yoga theme, *”Yoga for Self and Society,”* was evident in the inclusive and community-driven atmosphere of the event. The celebration at IIT Madras reaffirmed the institute’s commitment to promoting holistic education and well-being among its students and the larger community.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a pledge to continue the practice and propagation of yoga throughout the year.
