Agartala, July 12: As part of the Congress party’s ongoing statewide door-to-door leaflet distribution campaign, MLA Gopal Chandra Roy visited households in the Lal Bahadur area of Agartala on Saturday. The initiative is aimed at raising public awareness about issues the Congress alleges have been systematically ignored in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s radio program, Mann Ki Baat.

Speaking to reporters during the outreach, Roy launched a sharp critique of Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, accusing him of making “fake claims” regarding the state’s law and order situation. “The CM often says law and order has improved under BJP rule, but why are opposition leaders being attacked in broad daylight? Why can’t we hold programs or speak freely without interference?” Roy questioned.

The MLA alleged that despite filing a formal complaint about an attack on him during a party event, no arrests have been made to date. He said this reflects not only police inaction but also a disturbing erosion of democratic rights in Tripura.

Roy further criticized BJP leaders in the Banamalipur constituency—without naming individuals—for allegedly inciting political hostility and violence. He claimed the Congress campaign has been met with strong support from citizens who are disillusioned by what he described as the BJP’s misgovernance and unkept promises.

“The people are frustrated and angry. They want change, and they see the Congress party as a genuine alternative,” Roy said, expressing optimism about the party’s growing grassroots momentum.

The door-to-door campaign continues across various districts in Tripura, with Congress leaders seeking to connect directly with voters and amplify public grievances that they say have been neglected by the ruling government.
