Jaipur, July 15 — Two people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a violent clash between two Muslim groups in the Khanpura area under Ramganj police station limits in Ajmer, Rajasthan, on Tuesday.

The altercation, which reportedly stemmed from an old rivalry, escalated near the Pakeeza Meat Shop when members of the opposing groups attacked each other with sharp-edged weapons and other arms. The deceased have been identified as Imran and Shahnawaz, both of whom succumbed to their injuries while being rushed to the hospital.

Among the injured are Salman, Shahrukh, and Irfan, along with several others. All injured individuals were taken to Jawaharlal Nehru (JLN) Hospital in Ajmer. According to hospital authorities, the condition of at least two remains critical.

Police officials stated that the dispute initially started as a verbal confrontation but quickly turned violent. “It appears to be a fallout of a long-standing personal enmity. We are investigating all angles,” said a senior police officer from Ramganj Police Station.

Upon receiving the information, police teams swiftly reached the spot and brought the situation under control. The bodies of the deceased have been taken into custody for postmortem.

To prevent any further escalation, an additional police force has been deployed in the area. The local administration has also appealed to residents to maintain peace and avoid spreading rumors.

The clash has created a tense atmosphere in Khanpura, and law enforcement agencies remain on high alert. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have initiated a detailed probe into the incident.

Efforts are underway to identify all those involved in the violence, and arrests are likely once preliminary investigations are completed.
