New Delhi, July 29 — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Lok Sabha during the ongoing debate on Operation Sindoor, launched a blistering attack on the Congress-led Opposition for allegedly siding with Pakistan and failing to support India’s counter-terrorism efforts.

Refuting Congress’s claims of diplomatic failure following India’s military action in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, PM Modi asserted that global sentiment overwhelmingly favoured India. “Out of 193 countries, only three backed Pakistan, either through dialogue or other means. All major international bodies, including BRICS, supported India’s stand against terrorism,” he said.

PM Modi expressed disappointment that while the global community and Indian citizens backed the armed forces, the Congress party did not. “It is unfortunate that our armed forces didn’t get the support of the Congress party,” he said.

He accused Congress of politicizing the Pahalgam attack, claiming the party sought to exploit the tragedy for political gain. “They tried to score points from the loss of innocent lives. In doing so, they lowered the morale of our armed forces,” Modi remarked.

Highlighting the growing role of information and narratives in modern warfare, the Prime Minister warned against using technology and misinformation to undermine national security and public trust.

Taking a dig at Congress’s past skepticism over surgical strikes, PM Modi said, “First, they demanded proof of our strikes. Then, fearing public backlash, they claimed such operations happened during their tenure too. It’s good they didn’t claim credit for Operation Sindoor — because such strikes never happened before.”

He also accused Congress of consistently showing negativity towards the armed forces. “It’s an old habit of finding faults, even in acts of bravery,” he said, concluding that national interest should never be sacrificed for political convenience.
