Ahmedabad, September 16 : A Gujarat court has issued notices to YouTuber Abhisar Sharma and blogger Raju Parulekar in connection with allegations of spreading false and defamatory content against the Adani Group.

The Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Gandhinagar (Adalaj police station), directed both individuals to appear on September 20. The notices were issued under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which requires that the accused be given an opportunity to be heard before cognisance of an offence is taken.

Adani Group’s counsel, Sanjay Thakkar, stated that if admitted, the cases could proceed to trial. On conviction, the accused may face up to two years of imprisonment, fines, or both.

According to the complaint, Sharma allegedly uploaded a YouTube video on August 18, 2025, claiming that “thousands of bighas of land in Assam” had been allotted to Adani and linking the company to alleged political favours. Similarly, Parulekar was accused of posting a series of tweets and retweets since January 2025 alleging land grabs, scams, and undue benefits.

The Adani Group termed the allegations “baseless and misleading.” It clarified that the Gauhati High Court order of August 12, 2025, which the accused referenced, makes no mention of the company. Furthermore, the firm at the centre of that case, Mahabal Cement Pvt Ltd, has no connection with Adani.

Evidence submitted before the court includes Sharma’s video and transcript, Parulekar’s social media posts, the Gauhati High Court order, and related supporting documents.

With the next hearing set for September 20, the case underscores growing tensions between corporate entities and independent commentators on digital platforms.
