Agartala, November 5: Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha on Tuesday visited the residence of late Rajesh Banik, one of Tripura’s most renowned cricketers, to pay his heartfelt tributes and express condolences to the bereaved family.

During his visit, Dr. Saha remembered Rajesh Banik as a passionate and devoted sportsman whose lifelong dedication to cricket brought pride to the state. “His boundless love for the game since childhood helped him reach the pinnacle of state-level cricket. Rajesh Banik not only captained Tripura’s Ranji Trophy team but also played a key role in nurturing young talent as a member of the Junior Selection Committee of the **Tripura Cricket Association (TCA),” the Chief Minister said.

Expressing deep sorrow over his untimely demise, Dr. Saha noted that Tripura had lost a talented and disciplined cricketer whose legacy would continue to inspire future generations. “His contribution to Tripura cricket will always be remembered with respect and gratitude,” he added.

The Chief Minister was accompanied by TCA Secretary Subrata Dey, Vice President Upananda Debbarma, and Treasurer Basudeb Chakraborty during the visit. They too paid homage and extended solidarity to the family members of the late cricketer.

Rajesh Banik, known for his leadership and sportsmanship, had earned admiration both on and off the field. His death has left a deep void in Tripura’s cricket fraternity. The visit by the Chief Minister reflected the state’s collective respect and recognition of Banik’s significant contribution to promoting cricket in Tripura.
