Agartala, Dec —
The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Friday observed the first death anniversary of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, paying heartfelt tributes to the late leader and remembering his immense contributions to the nation. The solemn programme was held at the Congress Bhavan in Agartala, where party leaders and workers gathered to honour his life, leadership, and legacy.

During the commemorative event, floral tributes were offered before the portrait of Dr. Singh. Speakers recalled his pivotal role in shaping modern India through economic reforms and his reputation as a leader known for integrity, humility, and intellectual depth. The occasion served as a moment of reflection on Dr. Singh’s enduring influence on Indian politics, governance, and public policy.

Addressing the gathering, Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty highlighted various facets of Dr. Singh’s distinguished life. He described the former Prime Minister as an accomplished economist, visionary reformer, and statesman who always placed national interest above personal or political considerations. Chakraborty urged party leaders and workers to draw inspiration from Dr. Singh’s values and to move forward by following the path he had shown—one rooted in honesty, dedication, and unwavering commitment to public service.

He further noted that Dr. Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister was marked by inclusive growth, strengthening of democratic institutions, and efforts to uplift the poor and marginalised sections of society. According to Chakraborty, these ideals remain highly relevant in the present political scenario and should continue to guide the Congress party’s approach.

The programme was attended by several senior Congress leaders and party members, including Tripura Youth Congress president Neel Kamal Saha, along with office-bearers from various party wings. Participants observed the occasion with a sense of solemnity and resolve, reiterating their commitment to uphold the principles and vision championed by Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The TPCC leadership stated that Dr. Singh will always be remembered as a leader who combined knowledge with compassion and governance with humility, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
