Agartala: Nov 08: On Friday, the CPM received a significant boost as 193 voters from Congress, BJP, and Tipra Motha joined the party. Opposition Leader and CPM state secretary Jiten Chaudhury, along with former minister Tapan Chakraborty, welcomed the newcomers at an event held in the Srinathpur Gram Panchayat area. The joining ceremony also saw the presence of CPM Unakoti district secretary Krishnendu Chowdhury, Kailashahar sub-divisional committee secretary Biswarup Goswami, and other local leaders.
Former minister Tapan Chakraborty alleged that a faction of ruling party leaders is embezzling government funds while depriving the people of development. He cited this corruption as one of the primary reasons for the 193 voters’ decision to join the CPM.
Chaudhury, in his speech, targeted the BJP, particularly in relation to the recent communal clashes in Kadamtala, Jirania, and Gandacherra. He also criticized Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on various issues, further highlighting the opposition’s growing discontent with both the BJP and Tipra Motha leadership.
