Ambassa, March 7: The award distribution ceremony of the Clean Hostel, Green Hostel Campaign 2026 was held on Friday at the PRTI Conference Hall in Dhalai district, celebrating outstanding efforts by student hostels in maintaining cleanliness, environmental awareness and overall campus development.

The programme was organised under the initiative of the District Tribal Welfare Office and attended by several prominent officials and community leaders. Among the dignitaries present was Bikash Debbarma, who praised the remarkable achievements of the hostels from Gandacherra subdivision.

The event was also attended by Sushmita Das, Bhumikananda Reang and Vivek HB, who also serves as Chairman of the SDLBHC. Hostel wardens, teachers and a large number of students were also present at the ceremony.

The highlight of the event was the outstanding performance of the Gandacherra hostels. The Gandacherra Boys’ Hostel secured first place in the district, while the Gandacherra Girls’ Hostel achieved third place, bringing pride to the entire subdivision.

Officials and guests praised the dedication and leadership of Lobajoy Reang, widely regarded as an ideal teacher and mentor. Under his guidance, the hostel has focused not only on academic development but also on sports, cultural activities, social awareness and maintaining a clean and green environment.

Reang’s efforts in instilling discipline and encouraging students to participate in extracurricular activities were highlighted as key factors behind the hostel’s success in the campaign.

Similarly, appreciation was extended to Sagarika Debbarma for her leadership and commitment to improving the facilities and overall environment of the girls’ hostel.

Members of the Gandacherra community expressed pride and happiness over the recognition received by the hostels. Residents noted that the achievement reflects the collective efforts of teachers, hostel authorities and students working together to maintain cleanliness, discipline and a positive learning atmosphere.

The award ceremony was marked by a celebratory mood, with students and staff sharing their excitement over the recognition. Many local residents said the success has inspired confidence that Gandacherra’s hostels will continue to achieve greater milestones in academics, extracurricular activities and environmental awareness in the years ahead.

The Clean Hostel, Green Hostel Campaign aims to promote hygiene, environmental responsibility and healthy living conditions among students staying in hostels across the district.
