Gondatwisa (Dhalai), March 9: Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Sunday said his primary objective is to uplift the socio-economic condition of the Tiprasa community, urging people to remain united beyond political divisions.

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a new community hall at Gondatwisa—formerly known as Gandacherra—Debbarman said his focus is not on electoral gains but on the long-term welfare of the indigenous people of the state.

“I don’t want your votes. My only objective is to uplift the socio-economic condition of the Tiprasa, and I am 100 percent sure that Tiprasa will rise,” he said while addressing the gathering.

Debbarman, who is also the Chairman of the administrative reforms committee of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), said unity within the community would play a crucial role in shaping its future.

According to him, if the Tiprasa community stands united, it will have the opportunity to regain a stronger position in the state’s political and social landscape. “If Tiprasa remains united, it will get ample opportunity to claim its ownership over the whole state once again,” he said.

During the programme, Debbarman announced that around ₹4 crore has been allocated for the construction of the community hall, which will have a seating capacity of approximately 500 people.

“This community hall, with seating for 500 people, is being constructed with an investment of ₹4 crore. Apart from that, we have also decided to allocate ₹10 lakh for the Buisu festival. If additional funds are available, we will provide more support to ensure a state-of-the-art community hall is built,” he added.

The proposed community hall is expected to serve as an important venue for social gatherings, cultural events, and community meetings in the region.

Debbarman further urged members of the Tiprasa community to prioritise unity over party politics. He cautioned that excessive political divisions could weaken the community’s collective voice and influence.

“Party politics is not important. The community must stay united. If we fight among ourselves over politics, then political parties will dictate terms to the community. But if the community stays united and rises above political differences, the community will have the final say,” he said.

The event was attended by local leaders, community members and supporters, who expressed hope that the new community hall would strengthen cultural activities and social interaction in the region while contributing to the development of Gondatwisa and surrounding areas.
