Agartala, March 14 — The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) will contest all 28 seats in the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), along with the by-election to the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency, state Congress president Ashish Kumar Saha announced on Saturday.

Saha made the announcement following a meeting held at the Congress Bhavan in Agartala, where party leaders discussed candidate selection and the overall election strategy for the forthcoming polls. He said the meeting focused on preparing a detailed roadmap to strengthen the party’s organisational presence and campaign efforts for both the ADC elections and the Dharmanagar by-election.

Several senior leaders and party functionaries attended the meeting, including MLA Birajit Sinha and prominent tribal Congress leader Shabda Kumar Jamatia. Leaders from the state, district and block levels also participated in the discussions and shared their views on strengthening the party’s campaign at the grassroots level.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Saha expressed confidence about the party’s performance in the upcoming elections. He said the Congress is prepared to contest the polls with full strength and believes that the electorate will decide which political party enjoys greater support among the people.

“The upcoming elections will clearly show which party has the confidence and backing of the public. We are ready to face the contest in all seats of the ADC and the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election,” Saha said.

Meanwhile, Congress MLA Birajit Sinha alleged that the CPI(M) had fielded a candidate in the Dharmanagar by-election despite being aware that the Congress has strong prospects of winning the seat. He claimed that there might be a deeper political motive behind the decision and said the Congress would reveal the real intention in due course.

The upcoming elections are expected to witness a keen political contest among the major parties in the state.
