Agartala, March 14 — Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu visited the Integrated Land Port in Agartala on Saturday morning to review its operations and infrastructure. The visit aimed at assessing the facilities at the important international trade and transit point that connects India with neighbouring Bangladesh.

During the visit, the Governor toured various sections of the Land Port and interacted with officials responsible for its administration and functioning. Authorities briefed him about the overall operations of the port, including passenger movement, cargo handling, customs procedures and immigration services.

The Integrated Land Port at Agartala is one of the key gateways for cross-border trade and travel between India and Bangladesh. Officials informed the Governor that the facility plays a crucial role in promoting bilateral trade, facilitating the movement of goods and strengthening economic cooperation between the two neighbouring countries.

Governor Nallu reviewed the infrastructure available at the port, including passenger terminals, cargo handling areas, customs facilities and security arrangements. He also took note of the measures implemented to ensure smooth movement of goods and passengers while maintaining strict security and regulatory protocols.

During interactions with port officials and staff, the Governor emphasised the importance of maintaining efficient services and ensuring that all procedures remain transparent and user-friendly for traders and travellers. He also appreciated the efforts of various departments working together to manage the operations of the Land Port effectively.

Officials highlighted that the Agartala Land Port has witnessed steady growth in trade activities in recent years, contributing significantly to the economic development of the region. The port has also enhanced connectivity and strengthened people-to-people ties between India and Bangladesh.

The Governor expressed satisfaction with the facilities and operational arrangements at the port and encouraged officials to continue improving infrastructure and services to further boost cross-border trade and cooperation.

Senior officials of the Land Ports Authority of India, customs, immigration and security agencies accompanied the Governor during the inspection.
