Agartala, May 18: Tension gripped Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya on Monday after hundreds of students, led by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), staged a massive protest against Tripura University over alleged irregularities in examination results and delays in result publication.

The protest began around noon and soon intensified as agitating students raised slogans against the university administration and accused officials of gross negligence in handling examination-related matters. Demonstrators also burned an effigy of Acting Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shyamal Das to express their anger over what they described as repeated failures affecting students’ academic futures.

The agitation was led by ABVP leaders including Pramatosh Pal, Sneha Sutradhar, and Anupam Majumdar. Protesters alleged that many students who had appeared for examinations were wrongly marked with “backlog” status in the published results. Several students also complained about discrepancies in marksheets, delayed publication of results, and difficulties in accessing online result portals.

According to the students, the ongoing confusion has severely affected their ability to apply for higher education opportunities, scholarships, and employment. ABVP leader Ankan Pal alleged that the university administration had failed to address students’ concerns despite repeated complaints. He warned that the student body would intensify its agitation if corrective measures were not taken within the next 15 days.

“This is not a minor technical issue. The university is playing with the future of thousands of students,” one protesting student said during the demonstration.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding the management of examination and result systems in Tripura’s higher education sector. Students claimed that the absence of an effective grievance redressal mechanism has deepened frustration among the academic community.

ABVP leaders stated that the protest at Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya was only the beginning and warned that statewide demonstrations could follow if the university fails to resolve the issues promptly.

The protest has placed Tripura University under increasing public scrutiny, with growing demands for accountability, transparency, and urgent reforms in the examination and evaluation process.
