Mumbai, Aug 31 — Popular television actress Priya Marathe, best known for her role as Varsha in the hit TV show Pavitra Rishta, passed away at the age of 38 on Sunday.

According to media reports, Priya breathed her last at her residence in Mira Road, Mumbai, on August 31, 2025. She had been battling cancer for the past year, and despite undergoing treatment, she could not recover.

Born on April 23, 1987, in Mumbai, Priya completed her schooling and college in the city before pursuing her passion for acting. She initially began her career as a stand-up comedian but soon transitioned into television, where she carved a niche for herself. She made her acting debut with the Marathi serial Ya Sukhanoya and later appeared in Char Divas Sasuche.

Her most memorable role came with Pavitra Rishta, in which she played Varsha, a character etched in the minds of audiences. The show also featured late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Priya later appeared in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain as Jyoti Malhotra and played a negative role in the Marathi serial Tu Tithe Me as Priya Mohite. In 2017, she joined Saath Nibhaana Saathiya as Bhavani Rathod, portraying an antagonistic character with intensity.

Beyond television, Priya was admired for her versatility and ability to portray both positive and negative roles with ease. Her work in Marathi serials also earned her a loyal fan following.

On the personal front, she married actor Shantanu Moghe on April 24, 2012. Moghe is known for his role in the historical series Swarajya Rakshak Sambhaji. Priya was also deeply spiritual and believed in leading a balanced life.

News of her untimely demise has left the entertainment industry in shock. Colleagues, co-stars, and fans have taken to social media to express grief and share fond memories of the actress. Remembered as a warm, talented, and kind-hearted individual, Priya Marathe’s passing is being mourned as a significant loss to both the Marathi and Hindi television industry.

Her contribution to the world of entertainment will be cherished for years to come.
