Agartala, Aug 22 — A shocking incident has once again rocked the Uttar Routhkhola Madrasa in Bishalgarh, raising serious concerns about student safety and alleged attempts to suppress the truth.
On Thursday morning, a Class 7 student, identified as Nazmul Rahmal, reportedly attempted suicide inside the madrasa premises. According to doctors, he tried to hang himself, but the madrasa authorities have denied this claim and offered contradictory statements.
Nazmul was initially rushed to Bishalgarh Hospital but later referred to GBP Hospital in Agartala, where he is currently battling for his life. His condition is said to be critical.
This is not the first such incident at the institution. Two years ago, a student had died by suicide in the same madrasa, an episode that had sparked outrage at the time. The recurrence of such a case has once again drawn attention to the safety and well-being of students enrolled there.
Eyewitnesses and journalists who reached the spot alleged that the madrasa authorities tried to downplay the incident. When reporters attempted to enter the premises, the gates were allegedly locked from the inside to prevent media access. Locals have accused the management of attempting to cover up the matter instead of cooperating with the investigation.
The incident has triggered anger and concern in the area, with many demanding a thorough probe to uncover the truth. Questions are also being raised about what measures, if any, the madrasa management had taken after the earlier tragedy to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but the case has once again highlighted the urgent need for accountability and mental health support for students in such institutions.
