Davanagere (Karnataka):April 21: Karnataka BJP State President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, calling it “dead for the people” and accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of pursuing anti-Hindu policies.

Speaking at a massive protest rally organized as part of the Janakrosha Yatra, Vijayendra alleged that under the Congress regime, price hikes have hit record levels in the past two years, severely affecting farmers and the poor. “There has been zero development in the state. The poor are suffering, farmers are in distress, and essential commodities have become costlier,” he charged.

Highlighting internal discontent within the ruling party, he pointed to Congress MLA Raju Kage’s controversial remark suggesting BJP MLAs should “drink poison” for saying there is no development. He also mentioned senior Congress MLA B.R. Patil’s resignation and R.V. Deshpande’s admission that no funds are available for development due to the government’s guarantee schemes.

“Siddaramaiah is acting like the Chief Minister of only one community,” Vijayendra alleged, claiming that Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and backward communities have been neglected while minorities receive disproportionate attention. He further accused the government of misusing thousands of crores meant for Dalit welfare.

Vijayendra criticized the Congress for increasing prices of over 50 public services. “Petrol prices have gone up by ₹3.50, diesel by ₹5.50, milk by ₹9, and stamp duty has been raised. The people are burdened,” he added.

Expressing gratitude to party workers and leaders for their support, he reaffirmed BJP’s commitment to standing with the people.

The protest saw the presence of several prominent BJP leaders, including D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Govinda Karajola, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and P. Rajeev, among others.
