A massive rally organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the nomination filing for the upcoming ADC elections witnessed an overwhelming response from the Janajati community in Longtarai Valley under Dhalai district on Wednesday. The event reflected growing political enthusiasm in the region as the party intensifies its campaign for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) polls.

Amid loud slogans and a vibrant display of party support, three BJP candidates—Bipin Debbarma from Damcherra-Kachucherra, Sukesh Dutta Baruah from Manu-Chailengta, and Esmel Joy Tripura from Chawmanu—filed their nominations before the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Longtarai Valley, who is also the Returning Officer.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha participated in the rally, boosting the morale of party workers and supporters. Addressing the gathering, local BJP leaders expressed confidence that the trust of the Janajati people in the party has significantly strengthened, indicating a positive electoral outlook for the BJP in the upcoming polls.

This election holds particular significance as the BJP has decided to contest independently, marking a strategic shift from previous alliances. The move has energized party cadres, especially members of the Janajati Morcha, who have long aspired to fight the ADC elections on their own strength. Party workers were seen mobilizing extensively across the region to ensure maximum outreach and engagement.

The rally also highlighted growing discontent among sections of the Janajati population regarding the functioning of the Tipra Motha-led ADC administration. BJP leaders alleged widespread corruption and neglect of development initiatives, which they claimed has led to public dissatisfaction. Adding to this, several leaders from Tipra Motha have reportedly switched allegiance to the BJP in recent weeks, further strengthening the party’s position.

The ADC elections are scheduled to be held on April 12, with counting slated for April 17. With all major political parties contesting independently, the electoral battle is expected to be multi-cornered and closely fought.
