Agartala, Oct 23: Tension gripped Takarjala on Wednesday after a group of BJP workers on their way to a public rally organized by the party’s Takarjala Mandal were allegedly attacked by unidentified miscreants. The rally was scheduled to be addressed by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other senior party leaders. The incident has drawn widespread condemnation and renewed concerns about political safety in the region.

On Thursday, BJP Tripura president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee visited GB Pant Hospital in Agartala to meet the injured party workers. He personally inquired about their condition and held detailed discussions with doctors to ensure that the victims receive proper medical care and advanced treatment.

Speaking to reporters, Bhattacharjee described the attack as “unfortunate and reprehensible,” asserting that such incidents have no place in a democracy. “The BJP stands firmly with the affected families and will provide all necessary support. We demand immediate and strict legal action against those responsible,” he said.

The state BJP chief further stated that attempts to intimidate party workers through violence would not succeed and that the party remains committed to peaceful political engagement. “Such cowardly acts only expose the frustration of those who fear the BJP’s growing public support,” Bhattacharjee added.

Condemning the incident, several senior leaders urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly.

Bhattacharjee reiterated that violence in politics undermines democratic values and called upon all parties to uphold peace and mutual respect. “In a democracy, differences must be settled through dialogue, not aggression,” he said.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the attack, while security has been tightened in the area to prevent further unrest.
